(3 Things) Sparkly headbands, 50 years and Scandal.

The More/ Fitness Half Marathon is this weekend. As much as getting an Athleta race shirt sounds appealing, running 2 loops of Central Park for $80 does not. The price of this race will continue to baffle me- especially when there is a corporate sponsor! I guess I shouldn't be complaining that much, though, that's how they can keep the other races cheaper. Anyway, I was hoping I could get to the expo, but alas my schedule isn't working out. I was hoping to score one of the new Sparkly Soul Rockstar headbands because they're amazing!

I really need this headband in my life ASAP.

Today is The It's a Small World attraction's 50th anniversary. It's one of my favorite attractions (thanks to my father's tradition of it being the first ride of every trip to Magic Kingdom). I love that they are using Mary Blair-esque branding for 2014 because of the anniversary as well. Speaking of The World's Fair, I'm excited to run the NYRR Queens 10k again this year- in the famous Flushing Meadows Corona Park, specifically so I can go to one of the museums afterwards (since getting to Queens isn't usually as convenient as you'd think).

Let's talk TV. Anyone else kind of over all of the story lines of the shows they watch, or is it just me? My main beef right now is with Olivia Pope on Scandal. She is no longer the bad ass empowering female that I loved when the show started. If all she's going to do is act like the President's love sick mistress, she does not deserve the title of gladiator. I just realized this happened with Meredith on Grey's. . . maybe it's a Shonda Rhimes thing. Either way, my new favorite is Jake. . . because he's pretty badass and pretty hot as command- right?! Even B thinks so ;)

Does anyone else go to race expos in their city when they're not running the race? Have beef with a TV show you're watching right now?

(3 Things) Another fast race sellout, future races this year and tv shows

Oh, hai! Guess what today is?

The Princess Half marathon weekend was my last trip to Florida until Tower of Terror weekend. In other runDisney related news: Wine and Dine sold out in a day, which is a ton faster than it ever has. I think this has a lot to do with the announcement of the Avengers race (last minute chance to coast-to-coast if you got shut out of Tink/DL) and the fact that it's an anniversary year, which means special medal which means people lost their minds. One year I'd like to run Wine and Dine, but until then, I'm excited that Tower of Terror is the only thing on my plate.

That does not mean that's it for other races! The schedule calls for a half marathon every 3 weeks or so and then a couple of 10ks and a 5miler in June. . . then I want a break. Someone hold me to that, ok?

When the time came to sign up for NYRR races, I decided no races shorter than 10ks without worthy swag. Especially since I don't need to worry about 9+1 anymore (but will continue to +1 because I think all runners should volunteer more). I love that NYRR has such a myriad of race distances, but honestly how many times do I need to pay to run the middle loop of Central Park and get a white cotton t-shirt that's just going to take up space in my already insanely full closet?

So, that's been decided and I'm very excited about the month of June- The Oakley Mini10k, The Queens 10k and the FRNY 5M Pride Run. All have awesome non-cotton shirts, 2 have medals and one has popsicles at the finish line. What's not to love about that?! The best part? None cost over $30.

In all honesty, I probably will still end up signing up for 9 races this year (I've always wanted to run The Dash to the Finish Line 5k and I need to run the Bronx 10miler to qualify for the NYCHalf 2015) but it's nice not to have the pressure to have to. PS- did anyone else get a phone call from NYRR today reminding you to accept your guaranteed entry? Talk about thorough! Thanks, but no thanks, NYRR. Not this year.

2 Things I'm excited about watching since regular TV is taking it's sweet time getting back on a regular schedule:

Couples Therapy. What? It was on at my gym and I got sucked in. Don't judge. VH-1 has all the full episodes online, so now I'll know what I'll be doing post- long run this weekend.

Why we did it- The Rachel Maddow special documentary about The Iraq War. It's on MSNBC tonight at 9ET.

2 completely opposite ends of the spectrum, I KNOW. That's how I roll. Also, did you know National Geographic has stuff on Netflix?! I know it's the most exciting thing ever- to just me, I'm sure.

What are you excited about watching lately?

3 Things: Gym cards, The Ultimate foam roller and Orange is the new Black

How is it already Thursday? This week flew by, but I'm not complaining. I think it's because my schedule got all crazy-changed, but that can also be a good thing, right? I am, however, complaining that I'm 99% sure I have lost my gym membership card and don't want to pay the $10 replacement fee. It's been a couple of weeks and I'm being stubborn because I don't want to believe I actually lost it. That and the fact that I only pay $20 a month for the membership as it is. $10? Seriously?! It's a piece of plastic! Oh, Corporate greed, I hate when you win.

A few weeks ago, I ordered the GRID foam roller because it was on groupon. I had been lusting after it for over a year, but our foam roller is pretty industrial as it is, so I didn't feel the need. Let me tell you- after using it for a week, I can definitely say- you have not foam rolled until you foam roll on this. Holy wowsers, guys. That is NO joke and I have the bruises to prove it. I feel like I need to name it- any ideas? What's a scary prison wife name?

Speaking of prison wifes, anyone else watching Orange is the new Black? It's a new Netflix series based on a memoir of Piper Kerman. It's about the 18 months she spends in jail for drug trafficking, one  time ten years prior. Anyway, I read the book when it came out and I liked it, so I figured I'd give the show a try. Besides a few really big inaccuracies that won't matter to you if you didn't read the book, but drive me a little crazy, (SPOILER: she was already in prison when Martha Stewart got arrested, not after and she did not serve in the same prison as her ex- sadly, these are the 2 big distinctive things I remember about the book in general but hey I get it, more drama) it seems like a good show. I am only on episode 2, though. As long as they stay away from unnecessary violence, I'll be ok. It aired today and it's already been picked up for a second season. Plus, the theme song is Regina Spektor, which is pretty cool in my book.

What do you think about the new trend of web based series, ridiculous fines for losing your membership cards or foam rollers?
