I've never understood the rest day after vacation- until Tower of Terror weekend last year. Now, it's a staple in my race-cation planning, at least for the action-packed ones. I highly suggest them, especially for Disney vaca/race-cations.This time around, I made sure to take the extra day and I'm 100% positive it made the difference. I woke up Tuesday feeling extremely exhausted and on the verge of getting sick. A day on the couch? Completely cured.
In case you live under a rock or only watch extremely conservative news, the government decided to shut itself down last week. Without stating the obvious affects for thousands of Americans, the running community is no exception. Races have been cancelled because their courses run through national parks. This also presents a problem for me and the 45,000 other runners trying to run The NYC Marathon this year. In case you didn't know, it's start line is at the nationally run, Fort Wadsworth Park. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens? Dear Congress, please get it together. You're embarrassing me.
And speaking of that daunting mile race, I have a 20 on the schedule for this weekend. I am not mentally or physically looking forward to it at all- especially bc I'll be running a race for 6.2 of them. I'm seriously dreading running this alone. I really want to put it off until next week (it's a cushion week, just in case) but I know I should get it out of the way. I also hear there is rain in the forecast and I'm pretty sure I'll definitely skip it if that happens.
What would you do?
What would you do?
Good luck on the 20 mile run. You can do it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Erica!
DeleteDo the 20 mile run! You'll feel better afterwards and won't have to worry about getting it done the next weekend - you can just relax!
ReplyDeleteI know. I know. You're right. I think I just needed someone to say it!
DeleteSo proud of you for even putting 20 miles on your things to do this weekend! I haven't attempted that distance yet! Once you get out there and do it, you'll do fine! ~M
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's kind of scary, but we'll see. I agree. I just need to go do it.
DeleteI hope you got your 20 miles in!!
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate to not being mentally or physically prepared. My mileage is still pretty low, due to an injury, and I just can't get my stuff together.
Thanks, Summer! I hope you start feeling well soon. Take care of yourself!
DeleteLooks like NYRR has things figured out, which is a really good thing considering everything that happened last year!
ReplyDeleteFrom your lips! I hope so, my heart can't take it! haha.
