My travel health luck ran out. . . I came home from Disney sick and I haven't shaken it yet. I can't really blame it on traveling though, sitting through Fantasmic in 40 degree windy weather (PS- that's when the "may get wet" applies to EVERYONE. My favorite was the collective groan from the audience when the water started. Most miserable 30+ minutes of my life) hanging out in Epcot in the rain and then spending a rainy day in Animal Kingdom didn't help much either. That sounds like a lot of rain, but in the 5 days we were there, we experienced every season, literally. I forgot that a runDisney-cation is a completely different animal than a full-fledged WDW family vacation. I am definitely too old for that, especially when the midday nap didn't go over too well (my family is the park open to close type).
Getting to see the parks decorated for Christmas almost turned me into a fan of the holiday.
A couple of questions have been asked about what's next after a marathon- an ultra? a tri?
How about a break?! I have a couple of local races I need to register for but I'm hesitating because I'm a fan of not running these days.

I'm a little obsessed with reading Ironman recaps- keyword reading, I am not interested in running a marathon ever again, but especially not AFTER swimming 2.4 miles in open water and biking 112 miles. A Ragnar might be in my future, although having a long run broken up into multiple short runs trapped in a smell van with 6 people doesn't sound appealing, yet. Lots of people are into the Tough Mudder thing. . . but I'm a big fan of not dying <- that's a crazy interesting article.
I think if I didn't have the Glass Slipper Challenge to think about, I could entertain some of those thoughts. . .but honestly, laying on my couch sounds the most appealing right now (but that might just be the cold talking).
Are you a Christmas-person? What's your next challenge?
Are you a Christmas-person? What's your next challenge?
I would say I am a Christmassy person, but I just can't get into it till after Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteMy next challenge will be GSC!
I agree. . .all this early Christmas stuff is throwing me off.
DeleteHope we can run into each other there!
I totally want to do a Ragnar! I am seriously contemplating the Cape Cod one in 2014. And I have to admit, I am really tempted by triathlons and Ironmans, but I have yet to get my butt on a bike!
ReplyDeleteAnd good for you for taking a break, after something as strenuous as a marathon you should take some time off. Unfortunately I did not think of that and I'm going straight from MCM to Dopey. Oops.
Living in NYC has me petrified of riding a bike.
DeleteMCM was a part of Dopey training ;)
I use to love Christmas!! But this year I just have too much other stuff going on I can't get into it.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing the Tink non-challenge 10k and half, even tough I swore I wasn't going to since I'm not getting an extra medal.
I did the Half marathon/ Marathon relay without an extra medal. . . sometimes it's just fun :)
DeleteI absolutely love love love Disney at Christmastime! :0) I agree, a break every now and again is a good and necessary thing! Enjoy! Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Hope you had a great one!
DeleteI love Christmas! I can't wait to set up my Christmas decorations! But of course, after the Thanksgiving. :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to visit WDW on Christmas season. :) I hear a lot that it's beautiful! :)
Hope you are decorating and can get to WDW for the season soon!
DeleteOh my gosh - I love, love, love reading ironman recaps!! I need to get back to triathlons - not that I'll ever do an ironman. But a half ironman? That is very, very tempting.
ReplyDeleteI will totally be your cheerleader! I wish I had the will to do tris.
