Happy Thanksgiving! I am extremely thankful I found a way to stream the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade because that would've been a huge issue considering it's one of my favorite traditions (even if I never watch all of it). I think this is the one and only time I've ever been upset about not having traditional TV. I even considered wanting to go into the city and watch the parade IRL. Apparently, it's been long enough since I went that I've forgotten how miserable that one time was. What can I say? I had just moved to the city and it was just something you did! We lucked out that year and it was actually quite warm, but I don't know if I could rock those crowds in less than ideal weather conditions again. Fingers crossed next year is that year. My mom said she was thinking about coming up for Thanksgiving next year, so I might have to make it a twice in a lifetime thing.
and of course I'm thankful for all the other more important stuff, too. It's been a pretty awesome year and I have the most amazing family and friends.
I have some serious trot envy for everyone who ran this morning- especially after I saw the cute medal for the Prospect Park 5miler this morning. I'm pretty sure I felt the same way last year. My reasoning for not doing a trot is 10AM is too late in the morning. . . someone please show me a photo of that medal next year and remind me that we don't usually eat until late anyway.
But honestly, I don't know how much business I had trying to run 5 miles anyway. Yesterday was my first day back at the gym since the marathon. They were slow and a tad painful miles, but you gotta start somewhere, right? The good news is as soon as I put on my running clothes, I felt better- physically and mentally. So, I might not be as burnt out as I thought I was.
I think my love affair with the color orange has been replaced by mint green.
What's your favorite Thanksgiving tradition? Did you trot this morning?
The PPTC Turkey Trot is at 9am! You should do it next year! This was my first time...and I REALLY didn't want to get out of bed and run in the cold...but it was actually really, really fun. And the turkey-shaped medal was worth it! I'll show you a pic next year if you need it. ;)
ReplyDeleteIt was your picture on IG that made me wish I had done it! Good to know about 9AM!!
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving! I trotted but not in a turkey trot - I live in Canada and our Thanksgving was 6 weeks ago. Glad to hear you're back at running!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Thanksgiving to you!
DeleteSo I have to be honest with you...I totally hate that color! Haha, I used to LOVE it, it was so mint chocolate chip ice cream (mmmm!), and then I painted the guest bathroom in my old condo that color and I hated it so much I just closed the door and didn't go in for like a year until I finally got around to re-painting it! To this day I hate it...but fortunately it did not change my love of mint chocolate chip ice cream! : )
ReplyDeleteNo judgement! I can totally see the overuse of this color being not so pleasant.
DeleteSo yeah - I was suffering from Turkey Trot envy so much and since I woke up earlyish I was able to find one close by and made it just in time!
ReplyDeleteYou're so smart! I wasn't envious until I saw the medals, though ;) haha!
