(3 Things) Another fast race sellout, future races this year and tv shows

Oh, hai! Guess what today is?

The Princess Half marathon weekend was my last trip to Florida until Tower of Terror weekend. In other runDisney related news: Wine and Dine sold out in a day, which is a ton faster than it ever has. I think this has a lot to do with the announcement of the Avengers race (last minute chance to coast-to-coast if you got shut out of Tink/DL) and the fact that it's an anniversary year, which means special medal which means people lost their minds. One year I'd like to run Wine and Dine, but until then, I'm excited that Tower of Terror is the only thing on my plate.

That does not mean that's it for other races! The schedule calls for a half marathon every 3 weeks or so and then a couple of 10ks and a 5miler in June. . . then I want a break. Someone hold me to that, ok?

When the time came to sign up for NYRR races, I decided no races shorter than 10ks without worthy swag. Especially since I don't need to worry about 9+1 anymore (but will continue to +1 because I think all runners should volunteer more). I love that NYRR has such a myriad of race distances, but honestly how many times do I need to pay to run the middle loop of Central Park and get a white cotton t-shirt that's just going to take up space in my already insanely full closet?

So, that's been decided and I'm very excited about the month of June- The Oakley Mini10k, The Queens 10k and the FRNY 5M Pride Run. All have awesome non-cotton shirts, 2 have medals and one has popsicles at the finish line. What's not to love about that?! The best part? None cost over $30.

In all honesty, I probably will still end up signing up for 9 races this year (I've always wanted to run The Dash to the Finish Line 5k and I need to run the Bronx 10miler to qualify for the NYCHalf 2015) but it's nice not to have the pressure to have to. PS- did anyone else get a phone call from NYRR today reminding you to accept your guaranteed entry? Talk about thorough! Thanks, but no thanks, NYRR. Not this year.

2 Things I'm excited about watching since regular TV is taking it's sweet time getting back on a regular schedule:

Couples Therapy. What? It was on at my gym and I got sucked in. Don't judge. VH-1 has all the full episodes online, so now I'll know what I'll be doing post- long run this weekend.

Why we did it- The Rachel Maddow special documentary about The Iraq War. It's on MSNBC tonight at 9ET.

2 completely opposite ends of the spectrum, I KNOW. That's how I roll. Also, did you know National Geographic has stuff on Netflix?! I know it's the most exciting thing ever- to just me, I'm sure.

What are you excited about watching lately?

  1. Wow, I can't believe wine n dine sold out in one day! I guess that is to be expected though. I too don't plan to go back to Disney until TOT. Did that sell out yet? I'm not big into TV shows so there is nothing I look forward to watching. I'm happy with a few episodes of House Hunters or reruns of Modern Family. That's about the extent of it!

    1. TOT has not- and I'm kind of liking that. It's my favorite weekend, let everyone get crazy about all the other ones and leave the hidden gem to me :)

  2. Totally shocked about Wine and Dine. I mean, it's an AWESOME race and I guess I can see why given the Avengers...but this is getting crazy, now! It kind of sucks having to know your schedule and plan ahead for race weekends almost a year in advance. Nuts! (But...you know I love it...) :-D

  3. I was so surprised that Wine and Dine sold out so fast! It has been on my bucket list and I am so glad my mom and I will be running it! I think it will probably be my last runDisney race for quite awhile.

  4. I was debating doing the Oakley mini 10K, especially since it has a medal...yay! I wanted to do the Queens 10K again since I sucked last year and it's 10 minutes from my apartment, but the timing didn't work out. It's great that you're doing so many races, and definitely agreed that there is only so many times you can do that lap in Central Park (can we get a bit more variety here?!?!)

    1. You should definitely do The Mini10k- the course is awesome! It runs up Central Park West then you go into the park. I really like it.
Bummer about the Queens 10k, I agree. It was miserable last year, but they moved it to June this year!

Hope we can run into each other at a local race!
