Earth and Birth Days!

Happy E-arth Day, Everyone! I think I want to celebrate by watching a Nature documentary (it's date night, so don't tell B :) A few of my favorites: DisneyNature's Earth or Oceans, Tapped (about the bottled water industry; how it's affecting the environment and how water from your tap is cleaner and regulated more than what's in that bottle) or Chasing Ice (shows you exactly how global warming is affecting glaciers. It's pretty mind blowing)

Today also happens to be the 15th anniversary of Disney's Animal Kingdom. Happy 15th, DAK! You've come a long way from the park that I worked at so long ago (yikes!); Most of the people I worked with opened the park and it was very different. Now, I can't even imagine Asia without Expedition Everest or Dinoland USA without Chester and Hesters Dino-Rama. I do have a new found appreciation for Tarzan Rocks! and am totally sad it's gone (not bias or anything).

The Tree of Life from the roof of Dinosaur 2001.

It's also Cirque Du Soleil ToTem's 3 yr anniversary (hence, the new found appreciation for Tarzan Rocks!Seems like an awesome day for good things!

Do you know of a good nature documentary? What's your favorite attraction at DAK?

  1. I've only ran through DAK so I can't really comment. I loved fake running from the dinosaur in the middle of my marathon though :)

  2. Does the Kim Kardashian / Ray J video count as a nature documentary?

To be honest, I don't know that I remember DAK without Everest. I'll have to look up how long that ride has been there, and then figure out when the first time was I went to the park as an adult (Sophomore year of High School?).

I'm excited about what they're going to do to the park next. I've never seen the Avatar movie, but from what I've heard, its a perfect fit. I still wish they would have explored the initial "Mythical Creatures" intention more, though. Dragons and centaurs and unicorns, Oh My!

    1. Honestly, not a fan of Avatarland. Makes me sad. Don't you still need to see the movie?
I'm a fan of the "Mythical Creatures" too.

  3. *Sigh* I miss DAK. I don't think I miss working there as in the day to day work, but I miss working there in the sense that I liked making people happy and getting to watch the gibbons all the time.

I cannot believe how old it is. On my first internship I was waiting to go down Summit Plummet and looked over to see them still just building things. I'm old!

    1. I think now that so much time as past, I like visiting. There is so much I haven't seen! Since I considered it work, I'd never explore the other parts.

One day I'm going to see the parade. I swear.
