The Summer of W finale event

Last week, I was invited to attend the Tampax Pearl Active and espnW finale event to celebrate the end of their #AwesomelyActive summer. This was also in celebration of the #98DaystoShine photo challenge that ESPN W hosted throughout the summer. The gallery showcase in NYC’s NoLIta district featured the best entries from the Instagram based challenge, and Julie Foudy (the American professional soccer player) introduced a special viewing of the "99ers". Active girls from local high schools attended and got a chance to talk to Julie as well. Special guests also included Jessica Hardy and Lakey Peterson. A cocktail party followed in the gallery.

The Awesomely Active Challenge from Tampax Pearl Active also kicked off earlier this summer announcing the partnership with the ultimate Awesomely Active girl, professional surfer Bethany Hamilton. The Challenge was designed to celebrate and reward girls who are active all month long –and don’t let anything, especially a period, get in their way.

It was really great to meet the ladies who worked so hard all summer to make these campaigns so successful. The stories they told me about their adventures in each city they traveled to definitely sounded like an awesomely active summer! I also got a chance to meet the ladies behind Tough Lipstick and My Own Balance. 

Fun sidenote, I actually participated in the #98DaystoShine campaign this summer, and one of my photos ended up on the wall!

I love that both campaigns focus on empowering women to embrace the active lifestyle and giving girls the confidence to get off the sidelines and into the game. Strong is beautiful and all of the photo submissions showed that. It was such an inspiration.

Tampax Active will also be traveling across college campuses this fall, so be on the lookout if you see them!
