11 Miles and Degrees.

Any Sunday runners get jealous on Saturday when they see everyone's photos/ posts about their long run? Yesterday, I decided to put my long run on hold a day due to not feeling well (surprise, surprise. I traveled last week) and the gross weather and I totally did! When I didn't wake up to snow on the ground, I was pissed. Then when I saw the weather for today, I got even more upset.

YIKES!!!!

But I also knew I needed to rest. Once I got moving, the "feels like 16 degrees" didn't bother me. That much ;) Plus, this is the sight that greeted me once I got into the park:

SNOW!
This is the only place is seems to have stuck from yesterday's storm.

My legs were not really in the mood to be so cold, so I cut it short at 11 miles (instead of 12) and I'm totally ok with that. Honestly, I haven't been taking proper care of my legs, especially after last weekend, so I promised myself I would take time to roll and stretch.

 Why we buy race swag:
To dress us for training runs!

I am a little upset I didn't take advantage of a semi-full dress rehearsal in the warmer temps last weekend. Let's hope my mad hatter "jacket" doesn't chafe!

What weather is too cold to run in?

  1. Cold weather running is so hard. I have been really bad lately and have been doing my runs on the treadmill....I need to get outside, but can't seem to get motivated to bundle up and do it.

  2. We switched!! I ran on Saturday this weekend instead of Sunday. But yes, I do sometimes get jealous when seeing Saturday runners posts and pictures. And of course Saturday it was somewhat raining, but Sunday was beautiful. Gah! That is a beautiful view of CP! I also keep thinking, wow, WDW marathon weekend is coming up quick but it takes awhile to dawn on me that Tink is the following weekend. Ack!!!

    1. That's how I feel! Saturday wasn't nearly as cold.
I gain a new appreciation for CP every time I leave it.

Ah! Tink!! I'm so jealous. No "Ack!" you got this!

  3. I love the Central Park picture. So pretty. I'm impressed with your running in cold temps. I'm such a baby. It's been in the 40s here and I can barely deal with it. ;)

    1. I'm so jealous! My body is going to get acclimated to it and Disney is going to be too hot for me. I hope it's cool.

  4. I'm the total opposite- I think 40* is my ideal temperature, and anything over 75* is a nostarter. When it's "cold" in az I sometimes don't dress warmly enough and that makes it suck, but I loooove being out there when it's cold. I read a while ago about warming up inside first, saves your lungs from doing that burny thing in cold weather...it totally works like a charm and makes cold weather running so much better!

    1. That's totally my ideal/ deal breaker weather, too! Feels like 16? I wasn't ready for that. I MUCH prefer winter training over summer.

Good tips about warming up inside. Thanks!
