WoW: Staying hydrated on flights

Perfect timing on this one, Runner's World.
It's like they know I have a race-cation coming up or something :)

I don't know about an "energy" drink (wouldn't that dehydrate you more?), but (in case you don't know me at all) I'm a huge fan of bringing a refillable water bottle wherever I go. Leave it empty until you get through security and fill it up at one of the water fountains in the terminal. I've noticed a ton of water fountains making a comeback and it makes my heart happy.

These are my favorite!

Since then, I see them everywhere- including my office!)

I'm also a fan of the aisle seat because not only can I stretch my legs, I get to manage when and how many times I get up- which I suggest often if you're on a race-cation trip! I have been known to rock the compression socks (another must for flights!), stretch in the aisle and frequent the bathroom after a couple of bottles of water. And seeing as this flight will be a cross-country one, all of those things are going to be vital.

What are some tips you have about flying for race-cations?

  1. They recently installed one of those "bottle fountains" in Audubon Park. The water is tepid, at best, but its still nice to have if you carry your own bottle. Its been so long since I've been in MSY, there have been refurbishments for the Super Bowl. I can't wait to see what is in store for me at the terminal. All I know for sure is that there will be Dunkin Donuts with me on the flight.

  2. I read that same calendar Monday and thought - energy drink? I think they meant sports drink. Typo :)

I guess I never thought to bring an empty bottle. I usually just buy a bottle once I'm inside the terminal.

    1. Right?! Let's hope it's a typo.

I usually have a water bottle with me at all times anyway, I just need to remember to empty it before going through security!

  5. I always choose the aisle, too. When I was flying to NY last month, a guy sat next to me in the middle and had to use the restroom at least 4 times. That might have been because he kept filling a water bottle full of vodka. Regardless, it was annoying.

    1. That is annoying, but I look at it as a blessing in disguise- getting up and moving is always good on a plane!
